THE ROLES IN A SAFE HUB

SAFE HUBS FOR RESIDENTS

When a major disaster strikes the Wasatch Front, your immediate neighbors will be your first responders. The Safe Hubs program is designed to empower Salt Lake County residents to take ownership of their own community’s readiness. By organizing locally and planning ahead, you can ensure your neighborhood is prepared to communicate, shelter, and support one another when local emergency services are stretched thin.

Safe Hubs for Residents

To effectively manage a crisis when local resources are overwhelmed, the Safe Hubs program relies on a decentralized structure that builds resilience from the middle out. The core of this strategy rests in the middle, at the neighborhood Safe Hub, where residents converge to pool resources, establish leadership, and care for one another immediately following a disaster. Looking inward, the strength of this hub relies heavily on the Household; by securing your own home and building personal emergency kits, you reduce the immediate strain on your neighborhood’s shared resources. Finally, looking outward to the Municipality, once the neighborhood hub is established and operational, it connects directly to your city’s emergency managers to create a unified chain of communication and coordinated support across the county.
